10 Realizations Customers Discovered at the Microsoft Convergence 2013 Conference (Part Two)!

In our last blog post we previewed the first 5 “Favorite Finds” our customers learned at the Microsoft Convergence 2013 conference, today we share their Top 5 take-a-ways that they can’t wait to share with their teams:

5.      Among the over 100+ enhancements made to GP2013, the customers are very excited to finally see improvements of areas most recently excluded from major changes – like Fixed Assets (I.E. historical reporting, mass undo of Depreciation) and Purchase Order Processing (PO Prepayments, returns, tolerances).  Collins Computing created a 45 minute video showcasing these and other enhancements.
4.      Kofi Annon’s closing keynote was very enlightening.  To hear the former General Secretary of the United Nations say these quotes was certainly thought provoking: “The purpose of the UN is not to take a man to Heaven, but prevent him from going to Hell”; “Sometimes you have to shake hands with the devil to save lives”; “I’m rather ambitious about Africa, not just in the sense of Africa feeding itself, but also about making Africa essential in food security systems”; and “We’re all in a cruise ship and if water is entering at one end, we are all at risk”.
3.      95% of our clients own Mekorma’s MICR check solution.  So the two newest features in their product lines: Print checks from several companies from one screen (previewed in a video here) AND send EFT or Direct Deposit remittances to the payees automatically from within Microsoft Dynamics GP was like having GP itself improved! Users are now scheduling their Mekorma updates for the 10+ enhancements presented in the last 24 months – and then plan to implement the new cross-company module too!
2.      Customers shared their favorite smartlist reminders with each other.  Some have already told me how great it is to be able to do things immediately upon returning from Convergence – like apply controls for simple things like “non-batch” posting notifications.
1.      By far the best “Easy Button” feature delivered with GP2013 was the ability to SELECT A PRINTER AFTER hitting the print button (like all the rest of the office products). Click here to view a Collins Computing Print preview video.  Even though we all knew it would be #1, the presenters of the Top 10 GP 2013 features session (Errol, Mark & Mariano) might have been surprised at how loud the applause was for this beloved, long-awaited necessity.

Of course we have hundreds of “Take-A-Ways” from Convergence, and we plan to share them with the appropriate customers we have who missed this year’s event.  If you are in need of a Microsoft Dynamics partner who is willing to share features you can take advantage of within the products you already own, contact Collins Computing right now!

10 Realizations Customers Discovered at the Microsoft Convergence 2013 Conference (Part One)!

During the last lunch at the Microsoft Dynamics Convergence conference in New Orleans we conducted a “Customer Feedback Meeting” with the Collins Computing customer attendees. We asked our customers to share their “Favorite Finds” or the gems they will be bringing back to the other members of their organizations. Although we have hundreds of take-a-ways from Convergence we’ve distilled it down to the top 10 items that seemed to resonate with most of our attendees.

Today we’ll provide “Favs” 10-6 and tomorrow we’ll post our top 5:

1.    The Web Client features in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013. The customers knew it was coming, but the GP 2013 Web Client includes more modules than they were first told it would have within its capabilities, and more modules are coming in Mid-April!
2.    After attending a couple of sessions, the customers find that the Excel Refreshable Reports are easier to implement and use than they realized. They can even build dashboards which include ratios – and make them pretty by doing simple things like turning off the gridlines.
3.    While sharing their top tips from previous years, several customers now realize you can use the plus (+) and minus (-) keys to move a date field forward or back without having to actually type the dates (keystroke savers are always favorites)!
4.    Customers loved the point of view shared by David Giambruno, the CTO of REVLON, while on-stage during the Opening Keynote: ““the speed of beauty and glamour is unforgiving… Microsoft Dynamics gives us the edge we need to stay ahead in the market… We won’t out-spend our competition but we can out-speed them.”
5.    The excitement around Management Reporter 2012 is even bigger after customers attended sessions on the enhancements added with the latest Rollups (3 & 4). The key surprises they found were around Web Viewer quick links and the ability to auto-summarize the total rows with 1 click; excel worksheet linking; currency translation updates; and the available methods and locations of saving/distributing reports.

Too excited to wait for the Top 5 discoveries our customers found at the Microsoft Convergence 2013 conference? Contact Collins Computing today to understand how you can use these tips and more features throughout your organization immediately.
